St. John Lutheran Church has an active parish health ministry:

Here’s a sample of the volunteer opportunities:
Parish Health Planning
Provides for the Caring, Healing, and Health Ministry of St. John. Sets goals/programs for the health ministry program.
Health Education Presenters
Individuals with knowledge and skills in a variety of health issues are asked to provide presentations.
Event Registration Assistants
Volunteers needed to assist register members for a variety of parish health events.
Licensed Health Care Professionals
Professionals provide health screenings and education. Events include biannual health assessments and screenings, monthly foot care clinics, and various health education programs.
Fitness/Exercise/Team Programs
Volunteers lead fitness programs for various age groups (yoga, walking, running, Faithfully Fit) or coordinate softball or volleyball league teams.
Hospitality Helpers
Volunteers assist with food during various health programs.
Walk Event Coordinator
Event coordinators organize fundraising walks. Examples: Relay for Life, American Heart Walk, Memory Walk.
Foot Washers
Volunteers wash and massage feet during monthly foot care clinic.
Prayer Ministry Chain
To provide for prayer concerns of the Congregation through a confidential e-mail prayer chain.
Gifts of Care
We need sewers, cooks, knitters, crocheters, quilters, shoppers, stampers, scrapbookers, photographers, computer graphics to provide Gifts of Care which include: Baby Gifts, Prayer Shawls, CD’s, Neck Cozy, Comfort Soup, Cards, Posters, etc. Projects may be done individually.
Safe Refuge Task Force
Because St. John Lutheran is a place of safety for all members, especially for those subjected to abuse and violence we
seek volunteers to join this task force. Members should have interests and skills in health care, counseling or in family
system’s health.
Medical Records/Filing
To provide an efficient method of recording and maintaining the parish health ministry office. Must maintain confi dentiality and computer skills are needed.
Grief Letter Card Program
Assist with sending monthly grief letters. Computer skills are helpful.
Funeral Luncheon Coordinator
Coordinate luncheon which follows funeral service.
Funeral Lunch Providers
To provide food/beverages or to assist with serving, and set up of luncheon.
Journey Partner
A training program for lay members in listening skills and spiritual care. Once completed may take on a one-on-one
assignment.
Blood Drive Donors
Provide for the community’s need for blood products. Must be 17 years and older to be a donor. Other restrictions may apply.
Blood Drive Coordinator
Coordinate the blood drive and seek out other volunteers. Medical experience helpful.
Blood Drive Marketing
Arrange the posters and advertising of the blood drive.
Blood Drive Recruitment/Registration
Recruit donors prior to the drive and assist at the day of the drive with registration.
Blood Drive Set Up/Take Down
Assist with the set up and take down of the drive.
Blood Drive Hospitality Helpers
Provide food or beverages for donors or assist with the food area during the drive.
Blood Drive Observation
Licensed medical helpers to observe donors for reactions.
Health Ministry Promotion
Persons with skills in photography, crafts, poster designing, bulletin boards willing to assist with graphics and promotion of St. John Health Ministry.
