Who We Are

Mission Statement

Welcomed in Christ. Called to Community. Sent to Serve.

WELCOMED IN CHRIST

Love in Action

A warm welcome is the first thing people experience at St. John. Importantly, we are a Reconciling in Christ congregation of the ELCA. Intentionally, we welcome all to our worship and communion, events, and activities. Together, we create a place where people can feel included, seen and heard — a place of belonging and love.

CALLED TO COMMUNITY

Faith in Action

We are a worship community – and as a congregation of people who come to know and care about each other, we share the joys and sorrows of our earthly life. By worshipping, joining in prayer and praise, and studying God’s teachings, we also share a journey of ever-deepening faith.

SENT TO SERVE

Hope in Action

We are a part of the world, not apart from it. In these times, our congregation prayerfully renews our call and works for justice and peace. We use our gifts as servants who work for change and make a difference in God’s creation and for all people. We are sent out from St. John with compassion – and through our service, we bring hope.

Welcome Statement

We, the community of St. John Lutheran Church (ELCA), embrace the mystery of God’s love for all creation. As a gathering community of Christ, we are called to live and be Christ in community and as part of that community we commit to working for racial equity and justice in the world. Living in grace, we strive to see Jesus shining in all people of any sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, race, ethnic origin, age, economic reality, family status, diverse ability, or faith perspective. Through God’s embracing grace, we celebrate as full participants in the life and ministry of St. John Lutheran.
